"Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame."
We've been living in Frederick, MD since our return from Florida in early April and are absolutely loving it!
This is a vibrant, friendly, and diverse community that is rich in the arts, fine dining, and is easily walkable from our downtown address. Frederick also has a Single A minor league baseball team: the Frederick Keys (named after native son Francis Scott Key.)
The Keys, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, play in freshly renovated Harry Grove Stadium just about a mile from our house.
When we got up north from Florida, we were immediately confronted with a show schedule that was back-to-back for eight straight weekends. Coupled with moving, free time was at a premium. We finally had a couple of weeks off and we said it's time to check out the home team.
Last night we enjoyed our first Keys game. Notwithstanding a lopsided loss to the Salem (Virginia) Red Sox, we had a blast: great field level seats, hotdogs, peanuts, hokey but amusing games and antics with fans between innings and after game fireworks. To top it off, the tickets were comped by a couple we met in our booth at the Frederick Art Festival two years ago!
We're back on the road next week to Wickford, RI. We're already thinking about another game when we get back.
